About Us

Everything you need to know about Aletheia

Who we are

We have started a new International, English Speaking Church in the City of Munich Germany. We are a group of Christians who seek to understand what the Bible is truly saying (not what society says the Bible is saying). We also have a burden to reach out to those who don't know the Truth about Jesus yet. "Therefore, Faithful Christian, seek Truth, listen to the Truth, learn Truth, love Truth, speak Truth, uphold Truth, defend Truth until death; for Truth shall deliver you from sin, from the Devil, from death of the soul, and, in the end, from death everlasting."(Jan Huss)

Our calling

Many people think they know who Jesus is, what it means to be a Christian, who will go to heaven, etc. But actually, if we dig a little deeper, we find out their belief comes from all kinds of sources, but not from the Bible. Others do live in a genuine relationship with Christ, but they are still unable to live the full life that Jesus promised them, due to misconceptions about God or themselves. Our aim is to bring the Truth of God, revealed through Jesus and the Bible, to as many people as possible.

Our Lead Pastor is Bernd Armbruster.
Bernd has grown up in the traditional Christian setting in Germany. As a result, he believed he knew what Jesus, the Bible and Christianity is all about. And by age 20, he concluded that "this Christian thing is simply outdated". Little did he know that God had a plan.
At age 25, Bernd wanted to take a 4 months trip to Shanghai, China. Now looking back, he can say that God was sending him there. After stumbling into an international church there (Shanghai Community Fellowship ), he immediately felt drawn to come back. A few months later he dedicated his life to Christ. As a result, he volunteered immediately, became the Outreach Director at the church in 2006 and joined the fulltime staff of the church in 2011.
In 2016 God called him back to his own country, to start a church. God's calling: "Take some of the things you have experienced in your church in Shanghai, bring it back to your own country, and reach the people there who grew up with the same misconceptions that you had." That's how Aletheia came into being.
In addition to becoming a Christian in Shanghai, Bernd also met his wife Ryoko from Japan there. They got married in 2006 and now have three wonderful children: Anna (born 2008), Noah (born 2010) and Abigail (born 2014).
Due to our history and our calling, we do have focus on certain aspects of the Christian Faith that are particularly important to us.
- Love for the Father: Christianity is not a religion. It's a living relationship with God. We want every person attending Aletheia to grow deeper in a personal relationship with God.
- Truth: The Bible is the absolute and final authority for all questions of life. Not what society says about the Bible, but what the Bible itself says.
- Relationships and Family: It is our conviction that healthy family relationships are foundation for everything else we do. Therefore, we want to support all our members to live full lives as singles, move towards marriage in a Godly way, have healthy marriages and raise Godly children.
- Outreach: We want to give as many people as possible a chance to hear about Jesus. Most people will say "no". But at least, we want to give them a chance to hear.
- Community: The church is not meant to meet only on Sundays. The church is meant to be a close community, sharing life with one another, Monday - Saturday as well. We are aiming to build a community that truly shares life with one another, cares for and prays with one another.
Due to this focus that God put on our heart, we describe ourselves in three simple terms: Seeking Truth, Experiencing Grace, Sharing Life.
We accept and embrace the Lausanne Statementas our Statement of Faith.
